Artist's Biography - Diane Oser – 12/26/1955 to 11/21/2018

Diane Malcha Oser was originally from Montreal, Quebec. From a young age she was interested in both music and the arts, attending the McGill Conservatory of Music and the Montreal Museum of Fine Art. As a young adult she relocated to Vancouver, BC, where she attended the art program at Capilano College,

During the busy years of raising her children she continued to paint and teach piano For a period of time she was able to return to Montreal and further her education at Concordia University's Fine Arts program.

As an artist, Diane enjoyed working with all mediums, though her particular favorites are oils and watercolors. Another skill that Diane acquired was the restoration of fine oil paintings, something she learned while apprenticing with a Master Furniture Restorer in Montreal.

For her last 29 years Diane lived in the West Kootenay in BC. Most of this time was spent in Salmo, BC. In 2007 she married and moved with her husband Doug Alder and their 3 cats and two dogs to Trail BC where Diane continued teaching art and piano. In 2008 Diane's paintings were part of the Trail and District Art Walk and has also shown at the annual 'Art of Wine” fundraising event for the pediatric unit at the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital, here in Trail.

Diane was an active member of the Federation of Canadian Artists, and won the Gold Award for a painting exhibited in June 2009
