September 5 - October 3, 2014: "Something Different"
Post date: Oct 15, 2014 4:10:56 AM
Paintings by Ingrid de Jong Baker
This show is called Something Different because previously Ingrid was known for her watercolours, especially her florals. Now she has branched into acrylic - a very different medium suited to other subjects.
Leaving the West Kootenays, she now has the ocean as inspiration on Vancouver Island. Ingrid's work is constantly evolving. Her work was influenced early on by Wolf Kahn, then by a workshop with Gwen Fox, an astounding abstractionist, and time with Suzanne Northcott in Spain. This influence has launched her into experimenting and bold, more contemporary work. Ingrid continues to tame the influence of what she likes from these artists, seeking to change and integrate it into her own style.
The exhibition ran from September 5 through October 3, 2014.
